30 May 10 Meeting with Dr. Hilton Root

On May 27 AmCham held its regular Membership Meeting in Armenia Marriott hotel. More than 30 AmCham members attended the event. This time, AmCham hosted Dr. Hilton Root, an academic and policy specialist in international political economy and development. As a policy expert, Dr. Root advises the As ian Development Bank, the IMF, the World Bank, the UNDP, the OECD, the US State Department, the US Treasury Department and USAID. He has completed projects in 23 countries. Dr. Root has written and lectured extensively, publishing seven books and more than 100 articles. He is a frequent contributor to the Wall Street Journal Asia, the International Herald Tribune, Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post.

 

The presentation titled Opening the Doors of Invention: Institutions, Technology and Developing Nations addressed the stages of development of Silicon Valley and the lessons that could apply to developing countries like Armenia. The presentation was of particular interest for the representatives of IT sector present at the meeting. After the formal presentation part was over Dr. Root answered questions of AmCham members.

 

AmCham members really liked the informative and insightful presentation and expressed their hope to host Mr. Root in Armenia once again.
