Over the last 2-3 months, KPMG Armenia has continued its development as one of the leading international professional service firms by undertaking specific activities in many areas which are of importance for our clients, our staff and the development of professional services in Armenia. Below we present the most significant items.
Recruitment
Recruiting professionals for KPMG is one of the cornerstones of the firm's business as today's new staff are the managers and potential clients of the future. It is therefore critical that we attract the best and brightest people to KPMG to ensure our future success.
Starting from January 2010, potential candidates can submit their completed application forms and CVs via the KPMG careers website Recruitment system, which is easy to navigate and accessible to users. Candidates will be able to use the "Message centre" to directly contact the recruitment team assessing their vacancy choice. The use of the new Recruitment system has enhanced reporting capabilities to monitor candidates' progress, quality, results, and effectiveness, ultimately aiming to help to make the career transition of these individuals as seamless as possible.
Technologies, expectations of candidates and employees/employers are constantly changing, so organizations need to keep developing their approaches to get the best out of the recruitment process.
Training
KPMG values the role education and training play in the development of a proactive and knowledgeable society of employees, by offering well-developed and tailored training programs across a range of topics.
As a professional services firm, KPMG supports its staff to meet their training needs and to develop the competencies required for their roles. Thus, during the last couple of months our staff participated in numerous trainings, including CIS New Managers Conference in Moscow, IFRS updates, US GAAP/GAAS, Annual Audit Update, E-audit trainings in Rome, Frankfurt and Vienna and an effective proposal writing course. Over the coming months these staff will be cascading the knowledge down to junior staff and informing clients of the new techniques learnt.
The plans for the 2010 financial year are quite challenging in terms of delivering a wide range of soft skills trainings such as Personal efficiency, Presentation skills, Effective Interviewing skills, Managing performance etc.
KPMG Armenia continues to invest heavily in education and training of staff to ensure that they have the necessary skills to serve clients and maintain the required professional standards.
Corporate Citizenship
KPMG's corporate citizenship (CSR) strategy is focused primarily on education and supporting sustainable communities. Projects already undertaken include in-kind donations to orphanages, as well as financial support for providing decent housing for children in the regions of Armenia. We have a number of volunteers who actively participate in various CSR events.
In September 2009, a KPMG Armenia team travelled to Haytagh village (Armavir marz) to help the Karapetyan family to build their house. Eight brave employees put their muscles together to carry the stones piled up in the backyard into the house to make up the base for the first floor. Through classic teamwork the KPMG group completed the assignment twice as quickly as planned, amazing the organisers and the family itself. Moreover, the team got to socialise with the three children, who were helping us excitedly and sharing with us their plans for future.
By learning more about the problems faced by others, we become more engaged and committed to our communities.
