14 June 10 AmCham Meeting with Customs Advisor to the Ministry of Finance and State Revenue Committee

On June 10, 2010 AmCham hosted Mr. Chris Page, Customs Advisor to the Ministry of Finance and State Revenue Committee, European Union Advisory Group to the Republic of Armenia and and Suren Melik-Israyelyan, Head of Customs Strategy and European Integration Division, State Revenue Committee. Around 40 AmCham members attended this event.

 

The topic of the presentation was "The Armenian Customs Reform Programme: How the EU Supports it and What we are Aiming to Achieve." Mr. Page elaborated on the following issues: simplified procedures, system & procedures for post-clearance control, risk management, integrated border management, trade outreach & education and anti-corruption.

 

The presentation was followed by Q&A session. Questions referred to the current situation and main challenges, namely application of reference prices, complicated procedures related to Export of ”Dual Use” items, unnecessary complications with certification of products, absence of special regime in case of samples importation, etc.
